Aintree's first meeting following the John Smith's Grand National meeting in April is Irish Night on 7th May.

Celebrating the city's Irish heritage and culture, Aintree has secured the headline services of "Aslan" who will entertain racegoers following racing.

Aslan emerged from Dublin's Northside in the mid-1980s, releasing a demo single "This is" in the Spring of 1986, which was a huge hit and became the longest ever play listed single on Ireland's pop radio station, RTE 2fm.

In 1988 they recorded their debut album, Feel No Shame, which shot straight in to the No.1 spot of the Irish charts and remained there for weeks. Within a couple of months it was certified Gold.

Most recently, in February 2008, Aslan were named "Best Irish Band" at The Meteor Irish Music Awards and in April 2008 the band recorded an album of cover versions.  "Uncased" features tracks by David Bowie, John Lennon, U2 and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

In May 2009 Uncased reached number 2, behind Eminem's Relapse. Other tracks featured on Uncased include: Jealous guy - John Lennon, Telephone Line - ELO, My friends - Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nothing Rhymed - Gilbert O'Sullivan, Strange Glue - Catatonia, Something in the air - Thunderclap Newman, Quicksand - David Bowie, Goodnight Saigon - Billy Joel, All I want is you - U2, Maggie May - Rod Stewart.

Supporting Aslan on the evening and creating a true Irish flavour for racing at Liverpool's closest racecourse will be favorites, Saddle the Pony and Caride.
