Crowded House

Following on from last December's sold out UK arena tour, Crowded House will perform at the Pops on Wednesday 9th July. With singer/songwriter, Neil Finn, at the helm, the band's best loved hits include ‘Don't Dream It's Over', ‘Weather With You', ‘Fall At Your Feet' and ‘Four Seasons In One Day.'

New Zealander, Finn, a keen Liverpool supporter is looking forward to his Liverpool show. "There's a sense of humour and the warmth you get from the people. Liverpool has always been a great place to play" ,he continues, "I'd really love to visit Anfield. I've never had the opportunity, but that would be great."

Last year saw the reformation of the band and the release of the critically acclaimed album ‘Time On Earth', which entered the UK charts at No. 3 and included the singles, ‘Don't Stop Now,' ‘She Called Up' and ‘Pour Le Monde.' The band performed over 70 live shows in 12 countries as part of their ‘Live on Earth' world tour to a rapturous response from fans and glowing reviews from the critics.

Crowded House formed out of the ashes of Split Enz (who played legendary Liverpool punk club Erics) in 1984. They have enjoyed massive success in Australia and New Zealand and made their international breakthrough with 1987 single, ‘Don't Dream It's Over.' 1991's album release, ‘Woodface' , was the first to make an impact in the UK, whilst the 1996 greatest hits collection, ‘Recurring Dream', topped the album charts in both the UK and Australia.

Crowded House in 2007 features original members Neil Finn and Nick Seymour as well as Mark Hart, who featured from 1992, along with new drummer, Matt Sherrod, who joined the band following the death of original drummer, Paul Hester, in 2005.

Finn says, "We are an unfolding story. Loads of bands reform, but how many commit themselves to being a band to all intents and purposes after 10 years? We are more attracted to the idea of being a band again than ‘appearing' as a band again with all of the comfort and companionship that that brings with it."
