Set on top of the Sussex Downs, Goodwood is one of the most beautiful racecourses in the world and home to 23 days of flat racing between June and October. It is internationally renowned as being one of the great venues for entertaining, offering first class cuisine and excellent service.
There has been horseracing at Goodwood for more than two hundred years when the 3rd Duke of Richmond established the first downland course by racing his horses against the King and his friends in 1802. It was the Duke's inspiration and vision which led to the magnificent racing arena we see today at the top of the Sussex Downs overlooking the Solent.
The Glorious Goodwood meeting held at the end of the July and/or beginning of August holds a unique position in the English social season, combining top quality racing with a "chic" and relaxed atmosphere.
